ABOUT SKÅL
Should I join Skål?
Being made up of Travel, Tourism and Transport Professionals, the business advantages of joining are numerous.
Membership is open to Managers or Executives directly involved in tourism management and promotion. Eligible businesses include Transportation (airlines, railways, ferries), travel and tour operators and agencies, Tourism councils, government and non-government toursim councils, hotels, convention centres, travel media and much more.
By attending local meetings, National & International Congresses and other events, members meet industry colleagues from throughout the world, and above all are able to network within the industry.
These meetings are held in an atmosphere of "amicale", and give members the opportunity to make contacts on both a business and personal level, forging new and lasting friendships.
Skål is totally non-political and does not discriminate on grounds of sex, age, race, religion, politics or social standing. It does though, support charitable causes.
The International friendship and close personal contact of Skål has to be experienced to be appreciated.
Doing Business Amongst Friends
Skål is not a community organisation like Rotary or Lions, rather, it benefits and develops the professional sector, while assisting the community at large. Skål is an association of Tourism Professionals which encourages and creates a network of professionals around the world. It promotes seminars and conferences to strengthen the industry's professionalism. However, although Skål does not involve itself directly in business, it does encourage Skålleagues to do business with each other and with Skål supporters.

What does Skål membership offer ?
Skål aims to consolidate its status as a professional association, based on quality, exclusivity and acceptance with the travel trade industry, by evaluating opportunities to promote the movement more fully within this industry. Greater involvement and participation in seminars and conferences, considered as a means of strengthening Skål's role as a link between representatives of different branches of the industry.
Members are expected to live up to the objective and principles of Skål which remains the same today as in 1932 - to promote friendship, peace
and harmony without discrimination.
Members are also expected to promote Skål, the formation of new clubs and recruit qualified members, especially among the younger professionals in the industry.
What is Florimond Volckaert Fund?
The Florimund Volckaert Fund aims, through voluntary contributions, to help fellow Skålleagues and their immediate families who are in need or suffering personal hardship (serious sickness or the loss of personal property, for example).
