EDITOR'S NOTES
So our AGM came and went-another year, oh dear. Anyway, congratulations to all the new office bearers, and in particular welcome to our new President, Vernon Kirsten and new vice President, Joy Strydom.
The Winelands Committee, as well as many helping hands from Cape Town, have been very busy with the Annual General Assemblies of Skål South Africa in the Winelands, and a summary follows below. By the way, the Cape Winelands Club is the second largest in the country-not bad for a fairly recent spin off from Cape Town!
The world is a pretty jittery place right now, with events- in Libya and Japan of particular -concern. I don't enjoy knowing that the recommended area of evacuation around the damaged Japanese nuclear plant would include all of us in Cape Town if something nasty happened to Koeberg, while as a lover of the Karoo, I simply cant believe that the creation of hundreds of gas wells with all the attendant problems of “Fracking” can be allowed. It seems to me that we have to go very much greener, very much faster, and in this the hospitality industry here and world wide must take a lead.
See you around

MAY
 |
Lunch gathering will be at the Cape Milner Hotel on the 10th. We thought about moving it to either side of Indaba, but it has become a tradition to have a small but very enjoyable lunch when the hordes are in Durbs, so that's the way it will be. The Cape Milner has offered an excellent 3 course lunch, so please support them. |

SKÅL GOLF DAY

This is on 03 June at Bellville Golf Club-Enver is running this one, so if you are either a golfer, or would like to sponsor prizes or holes, or are able to contribute in any way, please contact him. It's a vital fund raiser to help keep your subs down!! |

ITB
 |
Welcome back to all those who participated in ITB-hope it was more than worth the effort. |

NEW VENUES
 |
If you have an idea for an interesting venue for lunch or anything else, do please mention it to a Committee Member. We are spreading ourselves around quite nicely, but new venues are always welcome. We now also include Golf Course management as well as restaurateurs involved in the tourist trade-we are pleased to have a couple of the latter now joining us. |

MEMBER NEWS
We are doing fine, but new members are always welcome-the nature of our various industries does lead to a lot of personnel movement. So, a SPECIAL offer is out there now-members recruiting new members who are approved by the Secretariat during March/May will be eligible for a separate draw in June. The prizes? We'll let you know...
