EDITOR'S NOTES
So the Congress has been and gone, likewise the footie, and 2010 will soon be over. I am sure that you remember where you were when the World Cup country was announced. But did you share in all the riches we were promised? Probably not. Do you regret it, wish it had never been? I'll guess a big NO on this one, We are left with wonderful memories, some wizard roads and a magnificent airport. (Oh, yes, and a huge blob in Green Point that we may or may not have to pay for till it falls down!). But SA Inc did a superb job, and that legacy should be our springboard for the future.
I see that already the Brits are talking about hotel prices soaring for the Olympics- in the words of Peter, Paul and Mary-"when will they ever learn?"
And also many thanks to Joy Strydom for dedicating so much time to the Chairpersonship (yuck!) of TICE. A great job, Joy- well done.
See you around

WORLD CONGRESS
Enver has sent out his report-indicating that here in SA we actually do things pretty well, but spend much of our time moaning that we don't!!

SA Contingent Tony Boyle, newly elected Skål International World President
MELBOURNE CLUB
Cape Town is twinned with Melbourne, which as I found out in July, is a very welcoming Club. Our Secretary Anne just attended a lunch that they put on especially for World Congress Delegates, and she met a variety of Skållies from some way out spots. Belonging to an International Organization, and making use of the contacts, is one of the greatest benefits of Skål, and Anne certainly enjoyed herself and was asked by Club President, Ian Murton to propose the Skål Toast. Gifts between the two clubs were also exchanged.

MEETINGS
OCTOBER
We had a very successful lunch at the Taj-a first visit for many of the group. It really is a lovely building, very well transformed into a hotel, while the welcome we received and the menu was well up to the impressive exterior.
Thanks to those who donated prizes - we have on record - Loren Rutherford, Nomad Adventure Tours; Peter Krug, Gingko Spa Management; Lucia Davados, Hout Bay Manor; Carol Bayne, XL Oceanair. Sincere apologies if anyone is left out. Heartfelt thanks for any other prizes received.

 |
NOVEMBER
We will be in town on November 9th for lunch at the Townhouse Hotel . Menu to be advised. Remember that at this meeting, we draw the lucky person who gets free membership by introducing others. |
|

DECEMBER
We were going to have separate Cape Town and Winelands functions, but the teams have got together again, and we will be holding a joint Christmas function as before. This will be lunch at the Mount Nelson on 3 Dec-we haven't been there for yonks, so it will be a very welcome return. Diarize!

The 2010 Membership cards have been handed out at various functions. There are still a number not collected. Please contact Anne to arrange collection/delivery of your card, if you were unable to attend any recent function. Cards will be available at the November gathering.

It's that time again, the renewal notice and invoice has gone out. Your prompt attention to payment will be much appreciated.
BRANDING
 |
The corporate BRANDING sales are going very well-the concept allows members to promote themselves at a low cost while helping to keep general subs down, so its all good. But, to make it successful, sponsors will need your support.
